New Zealand: Letters on extremism

Along with the rest of the world, I have been appalled by the recent terror attack which took 49 lives in New Zealand. The far-right extremist and white supremacist who committed this horrific act is another terrifying wake-up call, not just for New Zealand - a country who believed they were safe from such severe fascism - but for Muslims globally, and specifically those living in the West.
Killed for nothing other than religion. Killed for praying. Killed for existing.
What significant moment has stayed with me is the man who was first shot dead on the criminal's live stream, who greeted his killer with the phrase 'hello, brother.'
It's chilling and heartbreaking.
It's terrifying that we live in an such an uncivilised world, where instead of having sensible discussions, debates and challenges on faith and culture, there are people who think it is perfectly necessary to simply blindly attack.
